Who We Are
(in)Visible Legacy is a Queer, Black, Gender Non-Conforming-owned social impact and equity focused coaching practice founded by Haileigh Nelson in 2022.
Our Story
When traditional avenues for change fall short, innovation and creativity become our most powerful tools for forging a new path. This is the guiding principle that inspired Haileigh Nelson to create (in)Visible Legacy.
Haileigh's journey began in 2022 after more than a decade spent working in various roles within city government and social work. Despite their commitment to social change, they repeatedly encountered systemic barriers that stifled true progress for Black, Brown, and Queer communities. It became clear that conventional methods were not enough to dismantle the deep-rooted structures of oppression. Fueled by a desire for meaningful transformation, Haileigh knew a different approach was necessary.
Their passion for fashion design became the unexpected catalyst for this new path. Sewing and creating clothing allowed Haileigh to reconnect with their true self and tap into an ancestral practice that felt both grounding and liberating. This creative process revealed the power of imagination and embodiment in driving personal and social change. Fashion design was not just a hobby; it was a metaphor for the larger vision of (in)Visible Legacy—a space where creativity and collaboration pave the way for liberation and equity.
Haileigh envisions (in)Visible Legacy as a transformative space where people can develop embodied creative practices and collaborate with others committed to liberation, equity, and systemic change. Their experiences in social work and fashion design, combined with a deep commitment to racial equity and social justice, shape the unique approach of the business. Haileigh’s work is rooted in the belief that true transformation starts from within and radiates outward, with the potential to have a ripple effect through all facets of our society.

“The truth is, no one of us can be free until we are all free.”

Our Core Values
At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to envisioning freedom and creating justice. We are dedicated to fostering systemic change and liberation for Black, Brown, and QTLGTSI+ people, offering support in imagining, embodying, and creating ways of being and living that are fundamentally equitable and liberating.
Liberation & Justice
Creativity & Embodiment
We believe in the inherent capacity of individuals and communities to tap into their creative power to imagine, embody, and create desired futures. Our Visioning coaching is a practice of unlocking creativity, deeply grounded in an embodied lens. We honor the wisdom of the body as a source of insight and power for transformation.
Relationship & Community
We recognize that personal transformation is interwoven with collective well-being. Our coaching strengthens community and is informed by a relational lens. We foster connections that support belonging, mutual care, and collective liberation, exploring questions like "Whose am I?" to deepen understanding of self within relationship and lineage.
Transformation & Healing
Our work serves as a catalyst for transformative change. We utilize an approach grounded in a racial trauma lens to navigate healing from personal, societal, and ancestral wounds and foster resilience. This process supports individuals and communities in creating new, liberated ways of being.
Resilience, as defined by Alta Starr, is “our ability to connect and cultivate our innate aliveness.” It goes beyond merely surviving or coping with trauma, which can normalize systemic oppression. We see resilience as a reflection of our capacity to connect deeply with ourselves and others, tapping into our creative power.
